Experts Deliberate on “Environmental Sustainability in Mining and Mineral Industries”

The two-day National Conference on “Environmental Sustainability in Mining and Mineral Industries”, organized by the Department of Geology, Bhupal Nobles’ Post Graduate College, Udaipur, concluded successfully with great enthusiasm.

The Chief Guest, Mr. M. P. Singh, Chief Engineer, Central Electricity Authority, Ministry of Power, Government of India, New Delhi, in his address emphasized that environmental sustainability is a fundamental prerequisite for the continuous existence, prosperity, and health of human society. He urged the younger generation to focus on speed and technology to build a brighter and more sustainable future.

The Guest of Honour, Prof. Vinod Agrawal, Member, Expert Appraisal Committee (C & TP), Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MOEFCC), Government of India, New Delhi, stated that environmental sustainability is a shared responsibility of both the government and society. He highlighted that the mining industry is currently operating under various statutory provisions and laws to ensure environmental protection.

The Organizing Secretary, Dr. Hemant Sen, informed that a total of 33 research papers were received for the conference. He noted that the high-quality research findings and the collective knowledge and experience of subject experts would help establish new directions, new dimensions, and transformative approaches in the field of environmental sustainability.

The Joint Organizing Secretary, Mr. Karan Singh, delivered the welcome address, while Mr. Devendra Singh provided details of the technical sessions.
During the conference, Mr. Vinod Pandey, Mr. Zakir Hussain, and Dr. A. K. Vashishtha also shared their views and insights.
